My guess is they are different dies. No connection between CJ and BC Wills I know of.
CJ went out of business in early 60's.
Bill Christy got the rights to the H&C mold. He took the CJ records and dies to LV and started a business with Pat Sullivan. Paul Endy bought them out. He used the CJ mold till it went bad.
Paul-Son actually sold more CJ shiney hats after the buy out than CJ ever did per Blanchard. So actually the Humbolt could be a PS chip.
Chip dates in TCR are best guess in all cases without existing records.
The 2 chips could have been made from the 50's thru early 1976 when Humbolt closed.
