I really don't collect matchbook covers...I don't even smoke (I did in college, but that's another story). Still, today when we were touring the coast, spousal unit went into a fabric store and I wandered into an antique store and came out with these...at 4 for a buck, I couldn't resist. What I LOVE about these old covers is the history - all the stuff inside (the marketing blah-blah). Anyway, here's what I got, but I have questions:
1. Obviously there isn't the market for these vs. chips, but...is there any reference like The Chip Rack? Online displays like the Ashtray project? Now I'm curious. Of course, there's always
2. How should one show these off? The outside is cool, but the inside is cooler. To me. And the matches actually get in the way sometimes.
3. How would one ship a matchbook - I can imagine Carol at the PO asking me "Is there anything flammable, perishable..." Uh...
4. Finally...how'd I do? Anything cool and rare in my $3 find?
Thanks.
PS: Anything here appropriate for the online chip (and other stuff) guide?
