There was a problem yesterday affecting a couple of people.
I understand some maintenance was being done at the server host and this would have accounted for the minor glitches.
As I hadn't heard back from Rainer by this morning, I took the bb's offline to rebuild the database to see if that solved it.
Sorry that it was down for a couple of hours, I had forgotten it was a long time since I have archived and with the gallery linked and images being stored indefinitely it took much longer to run.
Anyway, that made no difference. When Rainer did get back, he pointed out that the posting process commences (i.e. as you hit the 'post' button) with the allocation of the next sequential post number. You see that number as part of the URL for every post.
Within the thread sequences, posts are always displayed in sequential order. However, two things can happen to put the time stamp out of synch.
1. The server host maintenance could well have interfered with the server clock (which is where the posts get the time stamp from)
2. If there are delays within the system (again due to the maintenance in this case) in transferring the post data from the database to the index file on screen, there is no guarantee they will be processed in the same order as submitted.
So, regardless of what the time stamps say, the order in which the posts display is the order in which they were submitted, always.
