Mobil Oil, now ExxonMobil had a similar plan for a number of years. I participated in buying Bonds. Once purchased they mailed you the Bond and put them in a safe place for a 'rainy day.' Over time these accumulated and finally amounted to a nice little stash. Back in the day, they were often out performed by other investments, but these were safe. Wouldn't you love to have a bunch of 25% investments TODAY!

I have a bunch of 30 year Treasury Notes drawing 17% and I will cry when they mature! The broker thought I was crazy for buying them at the time. He suggested 5 or 10 year bonds. Buying them from time to time, I have already had some mature and now there is no place to reinvest that is as good.
