The way I see it the experiment was the Euro which was a huge failure as we all can see. In order to have a global currency you have to have all countries on the same economic classification (IMHO). You can't have Socialist countries mixed with Capitalist countries. Some governments like Brazil are taking over private industry weekly, marching in and declaring the assets for the state. As world economic conditions deteriorate, just my opinion, more and more countries will do the same blaming all their woes on capitalism and not on their own entitlement programs that can not be paid and funded as the numbers just do not work.
Here is my prediction, soon a few countries will pull out of the Euro, Germany retirement age is 68 Greece it is 50/55. You see the problem?
In fact Germany wishes they never joined the Euro as this will eventually kill all economies. Greece they say is almost fixed? You really think so? They still never changed the retirement age and therefore kicked the proverbial can down the road once again. They will fail as will Spain, Italy, Portugal, Ireland. It is only a matter of time.
You will NEVER get the world on the same currency. And I usually hate to use the word NEVER but this is total fantasy.
England never joined the Euro did they.
