You're welcome David ...

I think that one must excersize reasonable judgement.

Trading/buying/selling in the hallways has always been a definte no-no, not only at our annual conventions, such as at the ANA conventions and large regional coin shows as well.

As I recall the occassion you have mentioned David, people were seated in the chairs in the hallway, trading outside of the trading room ... even seated on the floor in the hallway with chip binders in their laps. The hotel does not condone this activity either, simply on aestheic appearances. It just does not present a proper decorum to other hotel guests and passer-bys. That is just one of the reasons why the club provides a trading room. Yours was not a simple settling-up of a single transaction that Jim Steffner spoke about. If serious negotiations are required between a buyer and a seller ... take it to a hotel room, or even the hotel coffee shop or lounge, or hotel lobby, but away from the bourse area where dealers are paying good money for selling chips at their tables. When dealers with tables come out into the hallway to use the men's room, or grab a bite to eat (or to have a smoke back then) and they witness first-hand the transactions that are being conducted out in the hallway, they have a legitimate right to complain ... and I had an obligation at the time to bring it to the attention of the offenders.

In retrospect; do you think I did the right thing back then David?
