I recently ran across a photo of some Casino Vicomte Dinard plaques on the web. They were on a 561st Field Artillery web site. here's my request to use the photos on the Chip Guide and their reply.
Hello,
I came across your 561st web site and found it very interesting. I am too young to know about any of WWII first hand. My dad was on a ship in Pearl Harbor when it was attacked.
Most interesting is the photo of the Casino Vicomte Dinard chips. I collect old casino and poker chips. A group of collectors are working on a chip guide with chips from all over the world. Would you let us use your images on the Vicomte Dinard page. see the attached link

We collectors are interested in everything about the old casinos. When they were built, how they met their end...everything. Did your guys find the chips there or did they pick them up through another source?
Very best regards,

Good Morning Roy,
First of all you are more than welcome to use the photo of the chips on your online chip guide. I took the photo at a Battalion reunion several years ago. I have attended several reunions with my dad who was a member of the 561st. Back when the vets were a little younger they would bring some of their memorabilia to display at the reunion and they loved to tell all about the items and the circumstances surrounding acquiring them.
The chips were picked up at the Dinard casino site in mid August of 1944 by the same guy who took the picture of the casino. I don't think I can provide any more information on the chips. The guy who picked them up passed away a couple of years ago.
Thanks for your interest.
