Re: NCR BankNote of the Day-
In Response To: NCR BankNote of the Day- ()

I know it's a little late, but not only am I glad the notes arrived ok, but I learned a little about where the terminology came from - Thanks Mike.

I like the fact that our notes change every now and then and so each tells a different story. I only wish I had more of the £50s to study vbg vbg vbg

When I first started work, I worked for the railways and remember that we used to have some workers from the Scottish oil industry who used to get paid in cash and because they earned big money, were paid in Scottish £100 notes whereas in England we only go up to £50. But of course English notes are valid across the UK, as are Scottish notes - whenever they came in to buy a ticket from Ipswich back up to Aberdeen (they worked a month on, and then a month off) we had to get out the big book of banknotes we had and check against the pictures to confirm they were real - back then Ipswich was classed as an international station (as we sold international tickets) and so would take pretty much any notes from around the world. Not sure if they still have the books now, but they would probably be an interesting read!!!
