Bosnia, a troubled past, but could Monika Lewinski have changed it?
In 1991 the National Assembly adopted a Memorandum on Sovereignty that envisioned Bosnian independence within a Yugoslav Federation. In March 1992 an agreement was reached by Muslims, Croats, and Serbs to set up three independent ethnic communities under Bosnian authority. In April 1992 Independence was declared. The 2 Serbian members resigned and fighting broke out among all three communities which resulted in genocide.
Bill Clinton had kept the U.S. from getting involved in this NATO issue but aides were advising of the dire situation growing worse. Knowing it would be seen as a diversion to the Monika Lewinsky sex scandal and hurt any of his future political effectiveness he launched a massive air strike code named Operation Deliberate Force to disable Bosnia's military infrastructure. It was the right thing to do, but is still debated today. Had Clinton tried to protect his already tarnished image Bosnia and Europe might be much different today. Monika could have changed the world………??? ENJOY!!!
The note selected is a rather bland Bosnia 500 Dinars issued in 1992 after their Independence and before the genocide.
