My wife has a 'Nook Color' which is comprable to the Kindle. I have transferred movies, mp3, photos, PowerPoint, Word Documents, etc onto the Nook and they all play fine.

SO, if it works for the 'Nook', it should work for the Kindle. There is lots of info on the internet as to what you can or can't do with these tablets... or e-readers.
