In January 1996 I visited Las Vegas for Super Bowl XXX between the Dallas Cowboys & the Pittsburgh Steelers and there were numerous promotions in town. At the Rio Race & Sports Book they had a giveaway with a minimum $10 wager. Or was it $20? My memory is cloudy as I was suffering from a case of Anheuser’s at the time. The choice was a Super Bowl T Shirt or a keychain. I didn't like the T Shirt so I settled on the key chain.
Actually I was at the Rio because of another reason. Annually the Las Vegas Review-Journal makes a choice from different categories and puts out a "Best of Las Vegas" award. The Rio had won a certain category since the inception of the awards. The Rio had the best cocktail waitress uniforms.
I was there to confirm the top choice.
The keychain I got had a chip securely glued to the keychain. Over the years I would take it out, fiddle with it and put it away. Then, ten years later the glue finally gave out. Actually the glue on the keychain gave out. The glue on the chip still remains. It is visible at the 3 & 9 o'clock position on the chip. Maybe after ten more years of fiddling with it...
I have learned to keep my eyes open for chip giveaways.
