feel more secure in dealing with a long-time member versus a brand new member when it comes to more expensive deals...that's why an older member number carries a little more "weight". I have renewed no less than five members within the past several months that were in a similar situation as yours, but they elected to pay the past dues in order to retain their old number. I would assume that in most cases, nostalgia had something to do with it. Some people did not find it worth it to pay those "back-dues" and instead chose to just start with a new number, which is also an option available to you should you care to rejoin.
