These Chips Have Cash Value
In Response To: Costa Concordia ()

Jeff...This Costa chip is a backup chip used by Costa ships that sail both the Mediterranean and Caribbean ports. Each year, Costa, the largest cruise line in Europe, brings three ships to sail out of Florida and Puerto Rico. They generally cross the Atlantic on the Southern Route toward South America and then up to Florida for the summer months. The passenger population on these Italian-operated ships are: Italian, German and other European passengers. Americans are in the very minority and all announcements aboard ship are made in Italian first. These ships are very Mediterranean using lots of marble and wood throughout the ship's interior. Your chip is listed as a NCV chip, but it does have value and the color corresponds to the $1, $2.50 and $5 chips. While sailing out of American ports and territories, Costa uses U.S. dollar values. In Europe, they now use the Euro chips but they once used only the standard colors as value when the lira was the standard of currency. Hope this helps.
