This chip has a life of its own. I won it as a promotional chip in the World Poker Tour Amateur League for winning a "Sit & Go" event. It had paper inserts on both sides that covered the center only allowing the purple inserts to be visible. The idea behind the chip is you cash it in prior to a weekly tournament for $5,000 extra chips to be used in tournament play. Well, as fate would have it, my wife washed my pants with the weekly laundry, and the paper inserts could not stand up to her powerful "Tide." The WPT Amateur League is sponsored by the Tropicana Casino in Las Vegas -- the league is becoming quite popular in Texas and other states. Now, my question: Is this one chip -- the $500 one -- part of a set of Canadian Club chips because on one side it has the Canadian Club logo script and the other a king figure with sunglasses and the name "moneymaker" four times around the center insert? It's just an insignificant chip but I am asking before I "cough it up" before next week's tournament where we play for points, standings and to qualify for a seat at the world amateur championship in Las Vegas. Could other values feature other Professional Poker Players who have won the big show in the past like Chris Moneymaker? Has anyone seen this chip before or know anything about it? Probably a piece of fool's gold -- worthless to the owner -- but has some history to it! That's what chip collecting is to me as I can look at my bounty and tell you where I got every chip, the cost and conversation without looking at notes. Thanks for taking time to digest this diatribe and joke fodder. Later
