Re: Shipping rates at USPS
In Response To: Shipping rates at USPS ()

Of course you are correct in citing the regs Don. However; given all the various reports from comments I've read on this forum from around the country regarding how bubble mailers are handled with respect to different postal charges made for the same product/service, I guess it boils down to which post office one uses. Many of the postal sub-contract outlets (like in pharmacies) and even some regular post offices are not well-versed on all of the regs. I was in a pharmacy based post office today where a young high-school student was filling in for her mom who was doing something else in the store. In fact, I had to wait five minutes for the regular postal counter person, who was away termporarily, to return from picking up her daughter from school ... which is the young person who waited on me today ... and this is not the first time. I've mailed boxes of "printed material" at the media mail rate on dozens of occassions with no problems. When occassionally pressed further by a postal employee "what is in the box", I merely replied "books" and away it went. If the so-called postal person rep in a pharmacy (I don't think these sub-outlets are postal employees) don't know the regs ... how is the postal patron expected to be up on them?
