I collect all types of manufacturing styles of chips. As the catalog show us, buyers had many choices of materials and styles. The white 5 chip below is a regular clay chip, as Gene shows in the USPC samples. The yellow and red chips are light weight plastic. They appear to have been made with the same type molds as the clay chips. You can't tell the difference until you touch them. The blue 5 and white 20 are very light celluloid/plastic chips as shown in the Kernan catalog. I still do not know the difference between celluloid and plastic. Paranoid must have been a level of quality or sales term, not a material the chips were made of. A strange name/word for sure.
