Every slot out there states usually on the front of the machine somewhere (malfunction voids all payouts) or something like that. Casinos just have to protect themselves from all the crooks out there as well as the case of a real malfunction. I think this kind of story is alot more common than you think. We just don't hear about most of them. Many years ago I read about a young girl that was celebrating her birthday in Vegas. At what she thought was 12am (which was her 21st bday) she sat down at a quarter progressive machine and hit the $10,000 payout. When the casino came to verify the payout and check her ID the internal clock of the machine showed the payout was hit at 11:59:56. 4 secs from being 21! What a drag. The casino asked the GCB if they could go ahead and pay the jackpot and got a firm answer NO! Does this suck or what!
