Would you prefer a good matchup with a stadium that is nearly empty, or a mediocre matchup with a stadium full of fans from two teams who are appreciative of the opportunity to travel during the holidays? As noted, money dictates a lot of the results, and the "money" comes from fan/alumni support in the stadium or on TV.

As far as a playoff system goes, I have mixed feelings. I think the sport relies on slavery enough as it is. Adding games would be akin to bowing down to the money that sponsors and networks bring rather than respecting the student athlete's schedule.
