Some said it couldn't be done.... some said I was crazy to even try....some just wondered why?
I've returned from Vegas where my goal was to gamble and win a $5 chip from every casino offering table games in Las Vegas. Mission accomplished!
Only casinos that had "Las Vegas" on their chips were targeted, therefore no Henderson Casinos but all the North Las Vegas Casinos were included. Ended up being a total of 80 $5 Chips. Just a quick visit to each casino, walk-in scan where the cashier was and find a table. Played mostly Blackjack, but also played some Pai-Gow, Roulette, 3 Card Poker and even through some money down on a couple of wheels. Sometimes I only played one hand and colored up.
Day One: A Good Start (23 Casinos)
Day trip to Grand Canyon Skywalk and Hoover Dam with the wife. When drove back to Vegas I went south and hit the M Resort, South Point, Alamo & Silverton. Then I hit casinos just west of the strip... Wild Wild West, Orleans, Palms, Playboy Club, Gold Coast, Rio & Palace Station. Then off to Fremont Street and hit Main Street Station, California, Plaza, Golden Gate, Binions, Vegas Club, Golden Nugget, Four Queens, Fitz, Fremont, El Cortez and tried the Gold Spike but they had already closed up their table games. Hit the Silver Saddle on the way back to our hotel. Totally forgot about the Western.
Day Two: Walking Day (15 Casinos)
I stayed at NYNY so I decided to head south and hit the Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay. Came back north to Tropicana, off the strip to Hooters and came back through the MGM. Continued north to Planet Hollywood, Paris, Ballys and then off the strip again to the Westin, Ellis Island, Tuscany, Terribles and Hard Rock. Done gambling for the day and walked back to NYNY where we stayed and played.
Day Three: Walking Day 2 (21 Casinos)
Got up early... Hit Monte Carlo, Aria, Cosmo, Bellagio, Ceasars, Mirage & TI. Crossed the street and and hit the Wynn, Palazzo, Venetian, Casino Royale, Imperial Palace, Margaritaville, Harrahs, O'Sheas, Flamingo and Bills. Back to NYNY to recharge and took a taxi down to the Stratosphere, did the Big Shot Ride hit the casino on the way out and walked up to Circus Circus, went through Slots-A-Fun but no table games? I knew they didn't have their own chips anymore but I was looking forward to playing some craps so close to the strip. All we found was a sign that said "For your favorite table games please visit Circus Circus". So we got a giant plastic football full of beer and crossed the street over to the Riviera then walked over the Hilton. Las Vegas Strip Done! Taxi home for the night.
Day Four: Driving Day (21 Casinos)Picked up the rental car and off to the Longhorn, Eastside Cannery, Sam's Town, Arizona Charlie's Boulder & Boulder Station. Then hit the Western and back to the Gold Spike. Ventured into North Las Vegas and the drive to Jerrys Nugget was very eye opening. Continued on to the Silver Nugget, Bighorn, Poker Palace, Lucky Club, Cannery, Aliante Station, Santa Fe Station, Fiesta Rancho, and Texas Gambling Hall. Off the New Ultra Town Tavern... um ya, this place is closed, we drove around a couple of times trying to find the place, I guess Jackson Ave doesnt believe in street lights. Finally found it, little annoyed that we wasted time but oh well. Off to Arizona Charlies Decatur then off to the Rampart, another tough place to find! Over to the Suncoast and finally the Red Rock.
I was the only one from our group of 5 to get to every casino. The others did accompany me on various parts of the journey for support, only one other from the group tried to pick up chips... I would guess he got about half way done. It was a great trip, actually came back from Vegas with almost $500 in chips and more cash in my pocket than I went down with. Don't think I'll be doing it again anytime soon though. Now to get to work on the display case for the $5 chips for the Mancave!
I also picked up $1 chips along the way where I could and that will be the focus of my collection going forward... $1 Chips from as many different Las Vegas Casinos as I can.
Other notes... Rio still has the best cocktail waitresses! South Point get honorable mention. Ceasars was the most expensive minimum table, could find anything under $15. Poker Palace was the cheapest with their $1 Blackjack table.
