Only $5,800 has ever been found.
In the only unsolved hijacking in American aviation history, a skyjacker known only as Dan Cooper (later mistakenly refered to as "D.B.")...
..parachuted in a rainstorm from a Northwest Airline 727 jetliner over rugged terrain somewhere between Seattle, WA and Reno, NV on November 24, 1971.
Copper had been given $200,000 ransom money in $20 notes. No trace of the legendary skyjacker has ever been found.
On February 10, 1980, along the banks of the Columbia River near Vancouver, Washington an 8 year old boy Brian Ingram on vacation with his parents found approximately $5,800 of the ransom money.
I have a piece of one of the $20 bills.
Before the ransom was given to the hijacker, the bills were copied and the serial #s recorded. The serial # of my bill appears on the list.
IMO, he probably did not survive the fall. Probably landed in the water. Still, it's cool to have a piece of a bill that fell from the sky 40 years ago. I wish it could talk.
