After 41 years, another casualty.
It took me a long time to get these chips. I would go to the Western, late at night, every couple of weeks because I knew that these chips were in the cage. The cage lady and I played the game. She knew I wanted them, but she told me that the last time she sold any she got a blast of crap from her boss. They had been carrying the same number for these 50¢ on their paperwork forever. Finally, a day before Barrick was to take over, she sold me all she had which was approximately 60 chips. To say that most of these chips were in bad shape would be an understatement.....warped, worn and with 20 or 30 years of Fremont Street grime on them. Perfectly representative of the Western.
I have a few with decent hot stamps on them if anyone is interested. Some long cane and some short cane.
The chips are Hot Pinkish/Salmonish in color, not the off white that the scan shows.
