fortunately, my working career started just as hand-held calculators that completed trigonometric functions came out. Being in the heavy industrial / mechanical business, we used "Smoley's Book of Tables" as our Bible for most of our trigonometric calculations. I remember gladly shelling out $375 (and that included the 10% group discount) for a Texas Instrument calculator that was the newest, latest & greatest. You can buy a calculator that has twice the function & capacity than that old TI calculator had at any major retailer for about $8 now!! But I still have my "Smoley's"....
