I believe most were made by Chipco and feature a full color inlay on a metal core token.

Sometimes they are completely coated in ceramic like a few of the ones shown in the scan.

Hard to distinguish from a chip in the picture, but you definately know they are now when you feel them. Thinner, heavier and filled with metal.
