Last week I did some fairly extensive internet searching for any traces of Luis Alvarez. While I have not been able to find him, I also did NOT find any blatantly bad news, i.e., no obituaries!!

I did discover through some property/business/legal dealings, 4 associates, along with emails and sent each a message asking about his wellbeing and possible whereabouts. One contact (also a collector) reported receiving chips from Luis' daughter about 4 months ago and another contact advised me of this:

"Jim,
I am sorry. I am one of Luis closest friends but not even I know where he is and whether he is in good shape. Called him three times and sent eMails but no response yet."

If anyone else has any insight on Luis' wellbeing, I (and others) would be very interested in knowing.

Luis (Dr. Luis Alvarez) has/had a practice in Florida (Orlando I believe) and would often travel to the Dominican Republic in search of chips. I believe he could also go to Haiti and possibly Cuba. I have also heard that he does "mercy" volunteering (as a doctor) to the Dominican Republic and perhaps Haiti and in particular since the devastating earthquake there. We also know that Luis has a medical condition that can cause him to be away from the Message Board, telephones and other such comminications devices for long periods of time.

If I hear more, I will post. In the meantime, please keep his wellbeing in your thoughts!
