I've lived in LA for a total of 20 years and I've never felt a decent sized earthquake... I was living in New Jersey at the time of the Northridge quake, just a few months before I moved back to LA. The subdivision I live in was just being built then and all the homes were bought by people who moved out of The Valley. When the '87 Whittier earthquake happened I was on the first tee at a golf outing in Lake Of The Ozarks, MO. People were coming up to me asking if I'd heard about the big quake in LA... I thought it was a joke at the time.
