In your situation, I would always ask before I bid if they combine shipping.

Similar story. Maybe:

Somebody who used to post here said insurance is mandatory or something like that and when the package arrived uninsured I asked why I paid for insure and it wasn't insured. The answer " I self insure". This person lost a customer in fact they lost lots of customers.
