I went to the worlds longest yard sale in TN and AL this week. I drove to Chatanooga and headed south from there towards Gadsden AL. Most of the sales were just local yard sales versus antique dealers. So I did manage to buy a few silver items but nothing spectacular. In fact I never made it to Gadsden - I had to give it up about 30 miles short of it since I ran out of time (as well as energy). I won't even mention that it did get pretty close to the 100 degrees predicted although with lots of water, sun block and this year a boonie hat I managed to avoid the worst of it. A slight breeze all day helped also. Didn't even see a chip and after about 10 AM I started hearing "Oh, a guy was here earlier looking for jewelry". GEEEEZ. Drove back to the no tell motel in Chatanooga and crashed. I even overslept a little and had to rush around to head north as I wanted to START about 90 miles north in Crossville which is where the largest concentration of dealers is at. Since Chatanooga and about 15 miles north of there is on EDT and the rest is on CDT they start earlier and so there were lots of places to stop early in the morning. So many that I never made it to Crossville at all. The good news is that I saw lots of dealers that I had not seen before. But the chips were very hard to find. In fact these are the only ones I got on the whole trip and I even managed to lose one of the ones I bought. The second day I did score an nice punchcard that I didn't have and a nice 12" high sterling vase for $3. I even bought Cindy two quilt tops and a box of quilt squares for $10. But overall I didn't buy much compared to most years. And I disovered quickly that there was no sense looking for gold or silver jewelry hidden among the junk becasue it had already been picked over. But the fun is in the hunt.
I have never seen the Harrahs training token before. I do have a few of those and one of the Continental chips for sale. They are $4 each delivered
