In defense... (having not seen the game, only watching the YouTube clips and not being a rooting fan for either team)...
1) There's no angle that definitively shows a tag. For those who said he's tagged TWICE, I can say for sure that one angle shows the arm tag never happens. As for the leg one... it's iffy, but watch his glove. You'd think if he makes contact, that his wrist angle or the glove itself would move or shift. Neither happens. Does that mean he missed the tag? No, but it's not as clear cut as that.
2) The ump is in the correct position as dictated by training. And there's no camera angle from his exact view, so we don't know what he saw. He's right over the play, so perhaps he had a better view than anyone.
It's a close/sketchy call... sure. But certainly not the WORST call I've ever seen.
As an ump, I've seen plays that are so obviously an out (or safe) that I'm flabbergasted that anyone could possibly argue it, and yet they do. Catcher should have blocked the plate better, then there's no issue.
