I too have gotten endless emails like this and it amazes me that this scam still works. I saw a program on DATELINE just the other night on this exact scam where a lady had spent $200,000 of her life savings. The scammer was caught, but only because he was in the US. Few of these scammers are ever prosecuted because (1) they are too embarrassed to report it and (2) many cross international jurisdictions. You would think people are too smart to ever fall for this but is is quite the contrary, many are very well educated people. It is the greed factor that kicks in and an easy ‘something for nothing’ deal. I suppose we are all potential victims if the scam is believable enough, and the internet makes it easy to target millions of people with a single click of a mouse. All it takes is a few victims to fall for it to make it a successful venture. People cheating other people is as old as time.
However it is at times somewhat humorous as to the misspellings and grammar these people use. And the emails are never from a business email.
