While I agree with you that it is a shame that Borders is going out of business, I would point more to the growth of Amazon.com as a point of competition than ebooks. Borders was in the ebook business as well as standard books. How can you expect a company to pay the cost of maintaining multiply store locations across the country paying rent on the stores as well as employee costs, etc. when I could go on my computer and push a couple of buttons and get a book delivered to my home the next day for much less than it would cost to drive to a store and buy it myself. IMO - that is what killed Borders. Can't remember the last time I bought a book in a brick and morter store.
