Ronald, the problem I have with it either being painted or used as a money chip is that there are three very small areas, equally spaced from each other around the rim of the chip, and slightly onto the edge of the off-white surface side where the blue color can be seen. Very hard to explain, but looks more like that color is molded into the chip's surface than a surface paint added on. Also, the edges are too sharp to have ever been placed in a money clip where the bezel of the money clip would have compromised the sharp edges to at least some extent. That, and that I have never seen or heard of a .50 cent chip being used for money clips, they mostly are higher denominations (I could be wrong about that last point) so I'm not sure that explains it.
