after reading Jims post below I thought I give my 2 cents on the younger member saga.....
as a 32 year old I am one of the younger members of club, ever since joining I've been trying to think of ways to get some of the younger crowd interested in the club, it is definitely a tough task to accomplish (and just may never happen). in my opinion the younger generation is just not that into collecting and if they are, they cant afford it. I think the one hope to possible crack into the younger age group is POKER, while at the convention I made my way over to the RIO for a few hours to watch the WSOP, it is crazy how many people are crammed into those rooms playing. Is there any way for our club to get a table over there to advertise that our convention is going on at the same time as this huge event or if we cant get a table maybe have someone over there handing out flyers for our convention. Or how about some adds in those free poker mags that are handed out in poker rooms. Or maybe an ad on the WSOP website. Some of these ideas may cost too much but I really think POKER is where the younger gen is right now, if they can afford a $1K - 10K buy in, maybe they can afford some chip collecting on the side.
Sincerely,
Your 2011 CC>CC Poker Champion
