they no longer attend.
The reasoning behind inviting some of those folks in the past was to gather future support and donations for our club.
In fact many of the OTY candidates were invited as guests to previous banquets which also went away when we moved the awards to the bourse floor.
I do agree with you on many of your items and they all will be discussed among the BOD.
It is unfortunate that some of them may just not be feasable, but we will do our best to do what we can.
Being a born "Bean Counter" and doing it for a living I see things differently than others. Yes, breaking even is not a bad thing for a Non Profit, in fact its a good thing.
But on the other hand, when looking at our financials when a lot of the previous decisions were made we were staring at a HUGE loss for the year. One more year with a loss like that and we would have no convention, no magazine and some would say no more club.
We made some tough decisions back then that need to be re-looked at.
This year we spent 10x what we have previously on advertising the club and the convention.
The club already has several ideas on increasing attendance, decreasing admission fees and table fees. I plan on mailing all the Dealers out a survey outlining these ideas and asking for ideas of their own.
With any luck we can make some nice improvements in the years to come.
Thanks again,
Doug
