I guess I was thinking that they would simply be used annually so wouldn't necessarily have to sell them all as they would be re-used. That way people who want a set can buy one, and those that don't don't have to. It would rely on some initial input from the club to buy the chips, but if they just add a couple of $$ to the entry each year, the cost would be recouped, just not in year one?
I suppose the cost could be added to the entry so that people in effect buy a set anyway, and those that didn't want to keep them could sell them on, but I don't know how much they cost so accept that could be a dis-incentive to some. The one year I managed to play I was very keen to ensure I could have a set of the chips.
But I know a lot of effort goes into this, and I don't underestimate the efforts made. Just thinking aloud!
