I've been to all but 2 conventions, ever since the first one at the old Aladdin. IMO, South Point is the best venue for the club, and we get a fair shake all around. We are small, as compared to some of the huge conventions in LV. Also, since we're all spending our own money, not corporate expense accounts, we're not as attractive as groups that drop considerable bucks.
LV has changed in recent years, with the economy, etc. but we're still not "big dog" when it comes to conventions. I heard once, some years ago, that it's not necessarily the richest attendees that drop the most. For example, the AMA used to have conventions in LV, but the doctors were not that big as gamblers. The convention that everyone wanted was the used car dealers association. They had a reputation of gambling it up!
Back to South Point, I enjoy working with them on the tournaments. The missing tournament chips are of concern to me, along with the others on this BB. While I have the names of the 12 money finalists, the final 2 tables would consist of 20 players, leaving 8 names unknown to me. I don't recall when the big chips came out, but definitely in use at the final table, and maybe a bit before.
I hope the chips are recovered, one way or the other.
