This subject has always been a sore spot for me.
Someone "harvests" a couple of tournament chips from the South Point and there is outrage. Why, because the harvester may have jeopordized our relationship with the convention host casino?
Harvesting is STEALING. For a club that so prominently, and correctly, puts ethics at the top of its expectations of the membership, this is a GLARING hypocrasy. We knowingly buy/sell/trade stolen property. Calling it "harvesting" does not change the fact that the chip was stolen.
Keeping a chip that you have paid the casino for may not be "legal" either in the view of the casino, but at least you paid for it.
For the record, I stole two tournament chips from a Foxwoods poker tournament. I snuck them into my pocket during a table break. It felt like stealing then, and when I look at the chips today, the first thought that comes into my mind is that I stole those chips. I have never "harvested" another.
If we care about ethics, we should not be harvesting.
