The chip was issued by Milos "Sharkey" Begovich and Richard L. Chartrand at the South Tahoe Nugget. We do not know exactly when the chip was issued, but probably around 1965 when the club opened just north of the Stateline on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. The partnership that ran the operation was fraught with disagreement and in August of 1968, when Chartrand backed out of his driveway at Skyland everything was fine until he put the car in drive and a load of dynamite under the front seat exploded killing Chartrand. The crime remains an open murder case in Douglas County to this day.
