never too old to be a Newbie

Hello Forum;

I had a fantastic time at this year's convention. Was only able to take a daytrip on Saturday, but as usual I found a plethora of chips to look at, drool over, haggle about pricing, and ultimately buy. Brought some great chips home, won a little money paying craps, and made some great memories. This is my third convention - 1994, 2009, and 2011.

HOWEVER - I collect mostly obsolete Nevada, with a few other things thrown in. As a result, have never collected Crest and Seal, and didn't know too much about them. But I happened to find one in a bin that struck my fancy, so I picked it up. Now, I like clean chips (I know, I know...some of the purists are gritting their teeth)
so when I got home, I took my new stash and put them all in the cleaning solution I use, which normally gives me great results (you experienced C & S guys are probably groaning at this point).

Imagine my surprise when I took out my new C & S chip, and there was nothing left of the inlay/face. After I got through kicking myself in the pants, I realized that cleaning those chips is NOT recommended. Alas, most life lessons involve a little pain, so this is one old newbie who learned a little something this week. Maybe this can serve as a primer for other newbies!

Happy to see you guys at the show, and can't wait till next year! Thanks to all the volunteers and everyone else who made it all possible.
