Snappers is used for chips that are used to pay blackjacks, most people use it only for $2.50 chips. Some of us snapper collectors also use it for 250s, 7.50s, 12.50s etc.
Where the name came from is debatable, probably it comes from the snapping sound heard when a dealer grabs the chips to pay off a blackjack.
