I've often wondered that myself, Robert.
I have no idea why!
Doesn't make much sense to have had two different $5.00s from their very first issue,
not to mention that they were in business for such a short time.
Unless one of the fives had a color scheme (chip color/insert color combination) that was already in use somewhere else, then would have had to have issued another chip whose colors weren't already being used elsewhere.
If anyone else can shed some light on this let us know.
But, I have to say, "I'm glad they did ... one more chip for us collectors to collect"
