Actually, Deming is a nice little town, all things considered.
Three hours from Tucson, 2 hours from El Paso.
20 minutes from the historic town of Columbus NM (where Pancho Villa invaded)
1 hour from the historic town of Silver City (Billy the Kid hung out there for a time)
A lot of other neat things around there. (Gila National Forest, 2 Ghost towns, etc)
And it has a Walmart!!!!
And it hosts the internationally acclaimed Annual Deming Duck Races !!!

There were high hopes that the Apache Nation would be allowed to open a casino about 10 minutes from Deming. (but that was crushed by our former Governor, big Billy Richardson)
