OK so it is a work in process I have always wanted a pond with a waterfall in my yard. I almost put one in our last house but was deterred by the over $5000 price tag. So when we bought this house 4 years ago it came with one. Well it was one of those tiny precast ones right by the front door (that no one ever uses). It even came with 2 rather small fish in it. Well the fish are now waaaay over eating size and can barely breathe in the small pond. So this year I started out doing more investigating what it would take to build one myself. The guy across the street has a backhoe and I asked if he would be interested in doing some digging. He said he was busy last week but may be able to do it this week. So I ordered the liner and looked at rock for the walls and edges. Suddenly on Friday he calls me and wants to come over and dig. Dang! I just ain't ready yet and it is 96 degrees outside but lets do it anyway. The plan was to have a 24" deep pond so the fish have room to move around and a 36" high waterfall. I have had the feeling for a few years that this was going to happen so I have been collecting filters and pumps that will work with my new pond. Anyway the guy gets here with the backhoe and digs down and with the first scoop hits bedrock at about 16". All I can do is build up the outside so that the overall depth is still around 24". After he leaves I spend a day in the 95 degree heat cleaning up the bottom and building up the edges. Today I spent running the electrical from the crawl space to the side of the waterfall. Fortunately I had the good sense to run a PVC conduit from the crawl space to the edge of the patio when I had the patio and driveway poured 2 years ago. I am hoping the rock I ordered late Friday will come tomorrow since I am now at a standstill. I need the rock to finish setting up the waterfall. Sorry about the large pictures I will try to shrink them when I do an update on the project. Also ignore the photo date - I put in new batteries and it is still confused.
