Tunica is back! Well kind of..... Harrahs was the last to open and that was Friday afternoon. Most of the casinos passed out "I survived the flood" Tee shirts the first day they were open. I managed to get one from Harrahs and the Fitz. Outside of the levee there is little indication of any flood except for excess water in some of the fields (but that is frequently the case anyway). Inside the levee is a different story. My home base, Hollywood, seem to get about the worst of it. Do you remember the cotton field next to the casino? It is now under several feet of water. I did notice that the leve ldropped about a foot whhile I was there. The hotel didn't flood but due to a strange construction technique the casino was damaged a little. Hollywood is a (follow this carefully!) boat in a moat covered by a garage. When the flood hit the water pushed against the "garage wall" on one side and 2 panels of the wall collapsed. That let the water into the normally closed off "moat". That caused the water level in the moat to rise 9 feet in 3 minutes. Since the boat floats it went up 9 feet. Only problem is that the "garage" didn't go up so the boat "hit the roof" causeing some minor damage. The worst of it is that the wall that leaked was the one where they had the poker room so they closed that area and moved the poker room onto the main casino floor. The RV park is also closed since all of the electrical connections have to be reworked. About 1/4 of it is still under water. The same is true for Sams Town RV park. I didn't notice a lot of other damage except for a lot of mud everywhere.
Here are some pictures of Hollywood:

Here is the river from the Fitz. Normally you can see across the river with about 1/2 of it being sand bars.
The burn marks on the trees and from the river water in the Fitz back yard.
