It would be worth your time to sort the coins into denominations then type.
That is, pennies, nickels, dimes, etc; then by type
indian head, lincoln
buffalo, jefferson
mercury, roosevelt
barber, walkers, washington
etc
Before selling, go to your local library and get the most recent coin catalog to find out general value.
Sort out the more rare/valuable ones.
Remember circulated coins need to graded.
Expect a coin dealer to offer 30-60% of value, his profit is in grading and selling.
Silver just went over $45 per ounce.
Ignore value in catalog for silver coins. They're much higher just for the bullion value.
