NO-Ivory is a natural material and it should not be clogged with any foreign material.I have a friend that did that to a chess set and it reduced the value considerably.I collect chess sets and have about 20 ivory sets. All that I do is store them in glass cases out of the light and keep some containers with water to prevent them from drying out.
