IMHO I think this could be a good thing. There are a couple of BIG PROBLEMS with on line gambling the way it was.
In my opinion, Poker Stars and I am sure other sites were manipulating the money games with hands designed for players to lose their money. It just seemed almost predictable and you could tell others felt the same way posting JOKER STARS on the player's scripts. With the sites based in tiny 3rd World countries and with no regulations to stop them from manipulating the games can you blame them?
With millions of American Dollars leaving this country, there is no doubt that the US government would like to get a slice of this pie and I think it would be a good thing. I think eventually we will see an American site Licensed & Regulated by the US Government that will insure the site does not manipulate the games and of course they will get their cut of the action. I think with an honest regulated site, players World Wide would be playing there. With a US regulated site, millions of dollars would be coming into the country rather than leaving the country. The way I see it, the US government had no choice but to shut it down. Americans are still allowed to play on line for free while the rest of the World can play for real money, but we have Vegas.
