Here is another reason to use a CCD type scanner. This is from my new all in one Cannon with the CIS type scanner element. Not only is it way too dark but even when lightened I can't get it to scan the ashtray properly. It is just one big blur. My old scanner never had a problem scanning ashtrays. If they ever have that Epson V30 on sale again I am getting one.

BTW - I got the tray yesterday at a local "mile long yard sale" (which actually is 10 miles long). While not a casino ashtray it is from the Frontier Motel in Carson City and dated 1964. Pretty neat!
