Re: NCR Silver just broke $37
In Response To: NCR Silver just broke $37 ()

Just last nite I dug out a bunch of scrap silver jewelry that I have collected over the years. I wanted to weigh typical pieces to see what a fair price would be when I look for more at yards sales this summer. You would be surprised what people will sell for $.25. An average ring weighs .1-.3 troy oz. so they are worth around $3-$6. I found a large mans necklace in my pile that weighed an incredible 3.4 oz. Every sale I go to this year I am going to ask if they have any jewelry or silver coins to sell. You don't have to buy a lot to make the trip worthwhile these days. Most people know what their gold jewelry is worth but not silver. I just weighed my wedding band and it came in at .15 oz. That means it is worth about $85 with gold at $1400+. Not a bad deal if you can buy a band for $20 at a sale. And I figure I will offer 10-15 times face value for any coins I can get.

BTW - I don't think that now is the time to sell silver. With the world falling apart and our debt supposed to go up another $10 Trillion in the next ten years I think precious metals will continue to run. Or maybe it will just seems that way because the dollar will be falling apart.
