A little background....
Several years ago, at a souvenir shop on Fremont Street, I saw some clear plastic containers that were shaped like slot machines and were full of broken chips. I intended to go back later to get one, but I didn't .
A few weeks ago Jim Follis posted a picture to the chipboard...a lamp with a base that was filled with broken/ground up chips! I asked Jim if he'd bought a bunch of the slot machine souvenirs, or if he broke his own chips. He said he'd bought the broken chips, hoping to find chip pieces that he could put together like a jigsaw puzzle to make a particular chip from the Orleans (luckily he has since found a sample of the chip he wanted, because he didn't end up with enough of the right pieces to put together).
Anyway, Jim asked me if I'd like a handful of the chip pieces...heck yeah!!!
Not only did he send me a baggie of chip pieces, he also sent one of the plastic slot machine containers!! He suggested that I could probably use some sort of space-filler in the middle of the jar and surround it with the broken pieces.
I put it together and tore it apart 3-4 times, and I'm still not totally happy with it...but it's not too bad! I ended up using small zip-locks filled with rice as the space fillers. Unfortunately I can still see the baggie in a couple of places...so will probably re-do it again, eventually. But 'til then.... Cool, huh?
The biggest problem is from the top, where you can REALLY see the baggie
My solution? Put it on the top shelf of the display case, where the light hides the top of the container!!
