~~~ and look what I found: Swizzle Sticks Int'l. http://swizzlesticks.tripod.com
At one time our club belonged to F.U.N. (Florida United Numistmatists) where we had a hospitality table such as what we had a the A.N.A. Convention; where some of us would man the table (Archie, Brenda, Janice and Jerry and me) giving out woods made for the event along with our membership applications and selectively passing out our fine magazine... Though we would pick up a new member or two once in a while, it was difficult to get others to man the booth -- while yours truly would have to do the gig for the 4 days w/o any help (which I didn't mind 'cause I made a ton of connections with coin collectors from around the world who helped me add on to my collecting areas) from fellow club members. Yes, the 'vis-a-vis' approach was fun and all, but I understood that with family and work it wasn't as easy to chip in for some as it was for a retired person like myself... so I don't know how much being involved in that approach (coin clubs) would work today... and my feelng still stands that we need to think up ideas where we can utilize the Internet in attracting those who collect other gambling device and casino collectibles who just might be interested in joining with us.
Note that the swizzle stick collector doesn't mention us? Perhaps he doesn't know who we are (or maybe he does?).
